Ann Trinita Sohm

Ann Trinita SohmAnn Trinita Sohm is an artist, professional musician, and published poet. In the 1970's and '80's, several of her landscapes and seascapes in both oil and watercolors were shown in juried shows at the Staten Island Institute of the Arts.

Her 1978 metaphysical oil painting entitled "Nebula: the Incarnation of a Soul" was reproduced as a fine art print and sold nationally through Samuel Weiser Inc. (NY), and Llewellyn Publishers (St. Paul, MN). After "Nebula," her subject matter changed from secular to spiritual art.

Unfortunately, in 1989 Ann endured her first attack of multiple sclerosis and was blind for several months. Her sight was restored, but her optic nerve remains damaged. Her doctor's prognosis of probable blindness caused her to stop painting, until she met Father John Walsted. After Fr. John had seen her oil and acrylic paintings of angels, he offered to teach her iconography.

Ann credits Fr. Walsted for not only her work, but the courage to paint again and his inspiring mentorship.
